Vampire Facial Treatment Brighton And Hove
Vampire Facial Treatment in Brighton and Hove
Do you have dull or lifeless skin, ageing lines, wrinkles or pigmentation? Choose the Vampire Facial – known also as the Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) therapy. You can do so with confidence at our Brighton and Hove cosmetic salon, where you’ll be treated by our highly-trained specialist therapists.
Made popular by Kim Kardashian, this treatment is a medical facial that can be customised to deal with a range of ageing concerns for all age groups.
The Vampire facial gets its name from a procedure which involves the use of the patient’s blood to harness powerfully regenerating platelet rich plasma (PRP). This PRP contains a high content of growth factors – cells responsible for repair and regeneration in the human body. This facial treatment works on the basis that the natural healing powers present in the body can slow down the signs of ageing on the skin. The Vampire Facial is loved by many, because it is minimally invasive, involves low recovery time, uses the body’s natural resources and can address the signs of ageing on the surface of the skin (and below), resulting in increased collagen, plumpness and a more radiant complexion.
Here at Match Skin Salon, our Vampire facial is a suitable treatment for anyone looking to improve the overall appearance of the skin. It can be used to restore lost volume, reduce fine lines and wrinkles and improve both tone and texture of the skin. People who have had the treatment often notice an improvement in their skin, as it looks more vibrant and fresher than before.
Benefits of Vampire Facial Treatments
Vampire facials have some potential benefits which have resulted in the popular interest in its use for anti-aging and skin regenerating purposes. The highly-effective properties of the blood components in vampire facials can be used as a cosmetic treatment for the following:
- Tightening and toning skin
- Acne scarring
- Reducing fine lines and wrinkles
- Crow’s feet and dark under eye circles
- Mild collagen and volume loss
Vampire facials are mainly performed on the face, especially around the eyes, nose, and mouth. However, it may also be used on the backs of the hands and all over the body. When performed on the décolletage, a more youthful and radiant appearance can be achieved.
How Does The Vampire Facial Work?
In simple terms, Platelet Rich Plasma therapy or Vampire facials involve taking blood from the patient and harvesting platelets from it to inject into problem skin areas.
Blood contains plasma, platelets, lymphocytes, and erythrocytes. Platelets are cells responsible for clotting. This occurs by sticking to each other to prevent haemorrhages. As blood clots, the tissue surrounding it retracts because of protein fibrin, created by platelets that have stuck together. A similar reaction is triggered when micro-injuries are produced by a needle. Because of the injection of active platelets, there is a greater contraction effect. The physician is able to isolate activated platelets (PRP) and withdraw mesenchymal stem cells and other growth factors. When this PRP extract is injected into the skin, it forms a bioactive base of fibrin clot, which allows the release of a large number of active growth factors that encourage new blood vessel formation, tissue repair, and collagen synthesis.
What Does The Procedure Involve?
After your consultation, your blood will be drawn by an experienced practitioner. This process of drawing blood is very similar to when you have blood taken at the doctor’s office for testing. It is recommended that patients eat and drink a lot of fluids before coming in for their appointment. This will make it easier for the blood to be withdrawn. The platelet plasma will then be separated from the red blood cells by spinning it in a centrifuge.
When the PRP is ready, any makeup on the skin will be removed with a wipe, and antiseptic will be applied to the treatment site. In addition, a topical local anaesthetic will be applied to the area for 30 minutes.
With a very fine needle and using aseptic technique, the PRP will be injected into the skin in the required areas. The injection will be administered a number of times in multiple locations to achieve an overall improvement. Vampire facial treatment usually takes between 60 – 90 minutes.
What Should You Do After A Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy Treatment?
It is essential to adhere to your physician’s advice after treatment. Some of the following are generally recommended:
- Avoid touching and applying cream or makeup for about six hours post-treatment to prevent risk of infection
- Use cold compress to care for swelling in the treated area, as recommended
- If any pain or tenderness is experienced at the injection site, be even more careful when washing and caring for your skin immediately after the PRP treatment
How Long Will It Take To Recover From A Vampire Facial Treatment?
Depending on the patient and on the area being treated, a topical anesthetic is used during the actual procedure of injecting the PRP instead of local or general anesthetic. Therefore, most patients feel comfortable enough to return to their normal activities not too long after.
However, it is necessary to be aware that because of many injections being administered at the treatment sites, the areas can look red, bumpy or swollen following treatment. These effects can last for a couple of days, so ideally, it’s best to have some time to recover.
